The first national conference of cyber security concluded last Wednesday in Sana’a, in the presence of a number of government officials and the Ministry of Communications, under the patronage and active participation of Sabafon Communications Company.
Over the course of three days, the conference was presented with a number of working papers, which dealt with cybersecurity and the upcoming challenge to national sovereignty, cybersecurity risk management, catching cyber-attacks, detection and intelligent response to threats, how to build awareness of Internet risks, and technical cybersecurity measures.
In this regard, Sabafon presented a working paper entitled “Cybercrime and Preventive Measures” delivered by Engineer Bandar Mohammad Hatem, which touched upon the remarkable development in the methods of cybercrime and its risks to Yemeni national security, and the importance of taking the necessary preventive and technical measures to detect and hunt cyber-attacks and put an end to them in a timely manner.
At the end of the event, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Misfer Abdullah Al-Numair, explained that the first national conference on cybersecurity is a first step for serious work to prepare to confront the various electronic risks and threats to which the information system in Yemen is exposed, pointing to the importance of strengthening dealing with cybersecurity attacks and qualifying national cadres. In the field of emergency management and dealing with the risks of cyber-attacks.
Minister Al-Numeir praised the efforts of the scientific, organizational and preparatory committees, noting that the outcomes of the conference will continue to hold workshops, training, and qualification courses for national cadres in the field of cybersecurity.
At the end of the celebration, Sabafon Company was honored for its active role in making the success of the first national conference activities on cyber security in Yemen.
