Under the initiative “Fighting Coronoavirus is our responsibility together”

Yemeni telecom companies represented by the Public Corporation for Mobile Telecommunications companies in Yemen contributed with 500 million riyals in support of fighting the Coronavirus epidemic

Last Tuesday, March 31, 2020, in Sanaa, an exceptional meeting was held at the headquarter of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology where the Ministry of Communications took the initiative to exempt mobile companies from licensing fees for electronic financial services for the current year, and to exempt them from fees for allocating short numbers for the current year related to electronic financial services, education services, and health services.

The Ministry and companies announced several initiatives, as the Ministry of Communications exempted entities and companies from licensing fees for added services related to electronic financial services, education services, and health services.

The Ministry of Communications adopted the launch of a website and electronic application (in partnership with mobile phone companies) for Internet and mobile phone users to access it for free (without consuming the balance) containing information about the epidemic and everything related to its fighting campaign supervised by the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry also announced its readiness to grant additional temporary frequency packages for mobile phone companies to Internet and mobile phone users to enter for free without consuming a balance containing information about the epidemic.

For its part, the General Corporation for Communications announced free access and hosting for national e-learning platforms, and free national e-health platforms, hosting, and e-mail.

The telecommunications sector affirmed the continuation of its moral, humanitarian and patriotic commitment to work, contribute, respond and publish health and awareness messages, and to use communication networks and services to serve the community in order to fight the Coronavirus.
